A Message From The Reunion Co-Chairs

Welcome, fellow Cornell alumni!  The Cornell Asian Alumni Association (CAAA) is excited and energized about sponsoring the upcoming Cornell Asian Alumni Reunion for all graduation years!

Why an all-year alumni reunion?  A reunion for all class years opens up opportunities beyond those of traditional, single-class-year reunions.  Foremost is the chance for Cornell’s many Asian alumni and their families to see old friends from their own and other class years.  While at Cornell, many of us made special friendships with groups of students from class years other than our own.  An all-year reunion allows us to reunite with these circles of friends.   For some, the common denominator is doubled.  We know of many alumni who married Cornellians and are looking forward to reminiscing with friends from different class years about the good ol’ days.   Other alumni speak of their children who are alumni and getting together two or more generations of Cornellians to meet on the Hill for this Reunion.

Not only is Reunion 2010 a great way to renew Cornell friendships, it also will give alumni a chance to reconnect with the university, see what is familiar, and learn what is new on campus.  Perhaps you will choose to tour the Johnson Museum’s Asian art collection or visit the state-of-the- art research labs at the Weill Institute or experience the new West Campus.  You will have an opportunity to chat with many of our Asian alumni who are Cornell Trustees or Cornell University Council members, who will be there.  In addition, CAAA officers will be on hand at Reunion to fill you in on CAAA’s successful scholarship programs for helping current and future Cornell students, as well as the progress of the Asian/Asian-American Center at Cornell.

There will be lots for you to do.  For the June 10-13 Reunion, we are planning many special events for returning alumni, including dinners, lectures, and cultural and social events.  In addition, as registered alumni for the CAAA Reunion, you also will be welcomed at the traditional Reunion events sponsored by the university.  These include the Olin lecture, the President’s State of the University address, College Breakfasts, Cornelliana Night and much more.  For many, simply being back on the Hill will help remind you of a more carefree time when getting a good meal meant a trip to the hot truck, when Frisbee was your game and not your kids’, and when twittering was something that told you winter had left and spring had come back to the Arts Quad.

So whether you are a recent grad or an alumnus from “ages” ago, a warm welcome awaits you at the Cornell Asian Alumni Reunion!  To reflect or revel, it will all come together in Ithaca in June, 2010.  We hope you join us.

Please use this website to find updates in our programs, the latest pre-Reunion Buzz, or to complete a pre-Reunion survey. Online registration and printable forms will be available on this website in the Spring. Or, use our pre-Reunion survey or email us to request printed registration materials be mailed to you this Spring. In the meantime, please spread the word about the Reunion to your fellow alumni!  And feel free to email us if you’d like to help before or during Reunion.
